Woo Walk Club helps members enjoy Wooster on foot, connect with friends, and record walks.

Information used by the app

• Account and profile information, including nickname, email, optional phone number and profile photo.
• Walk recordings, including GPS coordinates, distance, times and saved walk previews.
• Friend connections, activity sharing preferences and optional notification preferences.
• Check-in records, verified walking points, and historical activity records.

Location and saved walks

Location supports walks you choose to record. Native background location is used while a recording is active so it can continue when the screen locks. Sights and parks can qualify within 150 feet during active walks. Restaurants, cafés and bars require a recorded stop of at least one continuous minute near the venue. When neighboring restaurants overlap, the saved-walk summary asks which places you visited; no venue is preselected. After the walk is saved, the server uses its GPS trace to verify check-ins, tally points and award eligible badges. Recording and automatic check-ins stop when you end the walk. Web recording requires keeping the tab open.

Saved walks are intended to be retained for up to 12 months unless deleted earlier or retained for security review.

Friends and sharing

The Share walks with friends setting controls sharing with accepted friends. Shared activity can include route and live location information while walking. Recent Walkers shows the nickname, avatar and distance of a recent shared walk to eligible signed-in members. The public landing page uses labeled examples.

Notifications

Optional notifications support friend requests and shared walks. You can disable notifications in device settings.

Security and local storage

Native account sessions and recorded-location caches are encrypted on the device using a key kept in platform-protected storage. Website sessions use browser storage; unsaved web walking data is kept in memory and can be lost when the tab closes or reloads. Signing out stops recording and clears local walking data.

Your choices and account deletion

You can edit available profile details, change walk sharing, remove eligible saved walks, and request account deletion in Profile. A new deletion request disables the account and queues removal of its sign-in identity, personal records and owned uploaded images. A scheduled worker processes requests with retries. Requests made under the earlier 14-day policy retain their original deadline. Provider backups and operational logs may follow separate retention schedules.
